Probably the biggest sporting event that I will ever see hosted in Singapore in my lifetime so might as well revel in the moment.
Surprisingly, despite the fact that YOG is held in Singapore, I don’t really feel like it’s happening in Singapore. Sure I have participated in all the prescribed school activities and such but it could well be for any Olympic games somewhere else.
All of YOG that I watched (for the real event) was through either the TV / their live webcasts.
I never thought that I could ever parallel prog with gymnastics but now I can.
Wong – I think you went for an optimal soln for the first problem of day 1 (the grid one) then somewhere got failure to debug and didn’t score as good as you would have liked. Then you managed to come back on day 2 and let me get the screenshot of you leading IOI
Komova – Went for broke and probably lost medals (or nicer medals) as a result of that.
So while both are pro in their respective fields, it takes huge courage to go for broke in anything?
Then Komova is like the AS curve. Got different region. Can parallel her to the IOI winner – Gennady Korotkevich (whose name I will never be able to spell without using google) who just comes and facerolls everyone to get 1st position. Given that he has a few years to go (like she has), we will hear alot more from them.
As for Wong, its the end of his prog for a period of time as he rushes the a lvls to get his wonderful 4As even with IOI in JC2
I didn’t go to any college at all. Any college. And I’m not saying you wasted your time, or money, but look at me, I”m a huge celebrity.
And as you grow, you’ll realise the definition of success changes. For many of you, today, success is being able to hold down 20 shots of tequila.
follow your passion, stay true to yourself. Never follow anyone else’s path, unless you’re in the woods and you’re lost and you see a path, and by all means you should follow that.
